Viv Corringham is a British vocalist living in New York, who has worked internationally since the late 1970s. Her work includes performance, installations, radio and soundwalks. She is a 2012 and 2006 McKnight Composer Fellow through American Composers Forum, 2015 resident artist at Harvestworks Media Arts, NYC and is certified to teach Deep Listening by Pauline Oliveros.
She performs solo, in ad-hoc improvising groups and in fixed groups which include Monkey Puzzle Trio with (ex-This Heat) Charles Hayward, Seven Sisters of Smyrna, playing psychedelic Rembetika with Clive Bell and Sylvia Hallett, Unusual Boulevard with Gianni Mimmo and Angelo Contini, a trio including Miguel Frasconi, and Avatar Orchestra in Second Life with composer Pauline Oliveros. Regular duos include John Russell, Andrea Parkins and Lawrence Casserley.
Recent work has been presented at festivals in Athens (Borderline), Pellice Valley Italy (La collera delle lumache), Hong Kong (Around Sound), New Zealand (Vitamin S), London (Her Noise at Tate and Soundworks at ICA), Florence Italy (Tempo Reale) and Australia (SoundOut). Her ongoing sound project Shadow-walks, has been presented in 22 cities internationally, most recently as a 10-speaker installation at Harvestworks Media Arts, New York.
